Despite what many think the Gothic culture has been around for a lot longer than most give it credit for. In the beginning it was heavily influenced by the punk subculture, and could still be considered as a macabre punk styling. It isn’t about being in a corner, or mall hopping.  It’s about being true to who you are. You won’t find the real music on mtv or the radio, it’s six feet under all the corporate radars, staying aloft from the teeny boppers and jocks. Getting the right look is only half the equation; you need to BE goth, it’s not just a coating, it more than a look it’s a lifestyle.
